Many, many students sail out of high school and their parents’ structure only to find the freedom of college a HUGE SHOCK. Our Academic Coaches know how hard the transition can be: freedom, choices, lots of unscheduled time, loneliness. Students come to us with low grades, academic probation, budgeting disasters and low confidence. The Professional Tutoring Academic Coaching Program focuses on supporting students through goal setting, structure, support, and accountability.

Academic Coaching begins with a detailed intake meeting with the college student (parents are welcome). Together, we examine the student’s successes and concerns including the student’s learning styles, work habits, current difficulties and barriers to success. The student and Academic Coach develop a plan together.

Intake Meeting – Parents and student meet with the Academic Coach to discuss background, academics, goals, learning styles, daily routines and individual concerns such as sleep problems and ADHD. Weekly student/coach meetings are scheduled.
